I am delighted that our new book “Praxishandbuch Nutzpflanzenbestäubung” can already be pre-ordered. The book will be published on April 14, 2025 and is about promoting pollinators in agricultural landscapes. The book contains crop and bee profiles and gives suggestions for concrete measures to support pollinators and thereby increase pollination services. The key message of the book is that is important to provide flowering plants as resouces for nectar and pollen as well as nesting habitats for wild bees to bring pollinators back into our agricultural landscapes and increase the crop yield. Some of these measures can also be applied in small gardens and even on your balcony. What I really like about this book is that it contains many beautiful pictures of plants, flowers and of course bees.
The publisher (Haupt) advertises the book with this blurb:
“A prerequisite for a rich fruit and vegetable harvest is that the flowers of these plants are sufficiently pollinated. Insects – especially wild bees – play an important role in this – they are the most important crop pollinators. However, in order for the insects to find their way to the cherry tree, raspberry bush or pumpkin plant, suitable habitats must be available for them. This book shows what is needed for this and how the yield of our crops can be improved by promoting their pollinators.”
